Donors

When you sign up to give life through Donate Life (online or through the DMV), your wishes will be carried out by your local organ procurement organization (OPO). In Tennessee, for example, Tennessee Donor Services is the local OPO. Upon receiving consent for donation, (through the registry, or consent from next-of-kin) OPO staff coordinates the evaluation, allocation, and recovery of the organs and tissue given for transplantation. This process all takes place with the utmost respect and concern for the gift, the family, the donor and those who will receive the lifesaving gift.
